Electronic Music by John Spence

John Spence commenced his study of Electronic music just as digital technology was introduced. As well as the new technology, John was able to work with many of the older analogue technologies that were still in use at that time. His piece called Wandering Stars was produced using an old Driscoll Voltage Synthesizer in 1985. At the Sydney Conservatorium of Music John also worked with the Fairlight Synthesizer and other control technologies that were current during the 80's.

In mid 2005 John commenced working with computer technology again having spent many years in commercial studio production and developed an improvisation interface for performer and computer. He has recently completed a paper called The Absentee Performer that discusses the impact of replay technology on electronic music composition.
